A couple years ago I started designing and building my own 5 axis CNC milling machine, it was a major project requiring extensive education in many fields, after years of reading and documenting, the machine was nearly ready to make chips in an initial 4 axis configuration. However, after changing residence I had to disassemble it and store it as parts. My affinity towards technical stuff and making things took over again, I am currently designing a much smaller and compact version that I can store on my boat when not in use. I will post updates on the progress as the design is completed and I will start building as soon as some custom fabricated parts arrive at my doorstep, or better put - companionway. The working envelope is 145/450/550mm. The old one was 3 times this size...
